Joan DeJournette Hatch, age 86, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at the home of her daughter Linda in Alpine, Utah. Joan was surrounded by family as she was reunited with her Savior and her family living beyond the veil.
Joan was born in Vernal, Utah to Thomas Ford DeJournette and Rosalie Miles. Joan met her future husband, Glen Hatch, while attending Uintah High School. She and Glen were married in Vernal and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. For 68 years, they were sweethearts, best friends, golf competitors, and the parents of five children.
Joan’s life was proof of her love and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her days were filled with endless service and unconditional love. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all.
Joan leaves behind her husband, Glen; children Linda Lee, Mary Lou (Ron) Pearce, Kathy (Scott) Mitchell, Rebecca Maesato, and David (Mey) Hatch; 36 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and countless friends, neighbors, and ward members who admired and loved her dearly.
Joan was buried at the Jolley-Gifford Cemetery in Springdale, Utah on October 21. A memorial service to honor both Joan and Glen will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 AM in the Hurricane 11th Ward Chapel, 452 N 2600 W, Hurricane. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Joan’s name to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (pkdcure.org) would be appreciated.
