Washington, UT - Joy Christensen Lindquist, 33, died peacefully in her home on October 15, 2013, surrounded by her family after valiantly battling cancer for over 2 ½ years. She was born on December 30, 1979 in St. George, UT to Lynn and Carma Jean Christensen. She married Ben Lindquist on July 28, 2000 in the St. George Temple.
Joy was full of life and at the age of 33, was able to leave a mark on the world that would take most a lifetime. She was humble, smart and beautiful. Joy had many talents and could have done anything in this life, but chose to be a mother and a wife, something she did with grace, patience and love. Her greatest love in this life was her family, especially her two kids, Lydia and McKay. Joy had an amazing sense of humor, but never at the expense of someone else. She was never the life of the party, but always made the party or gathering worth being at, whether it was bringing food, witty conversation or unbiased perspective. Joy knew who she was and would never compromise her beliefs or principles, yet never alienated anyone for believing or doing something different. She never wanted anyone to feel uncomfortable and would help anyone she came across without ever expecting anything in return. Joy truly was Christ-like, she loved the Lord and was always willing to do what it took to follow the Savior. She never complained, even when her body suffered through numerous cancer treatments and surgeries. Her name was more than a name, it was who she was, how she lived and what she brought to others, she truly was JOY.
She is survived by her husband Ben, children: Lydia and McKay. Parents: Lynn and Jeannie Christensen. Siblings: Jena (Harold) Nelson of Washington, UT; Jed (Amy) Christensen of St. George, UT; Jill (Craig) Riddle of Washington, UT; Jason (Alicia) Christensen of Washington, UT; and Josh (Karisa) Christensen of Washington, UT and many nieces and nephews who adored her.
