Kenneth Eric Nielson, 50, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2014 at his home in Ivins, Utah. Ken was born on April 10, 1964 in Los Angeles, California. At the tender age of 3 months old, he was adopted by his loving parents, Kenneth and Peggy Nielson. He spent most of his early childhood days in Southern California where he learned to love to swim in the family pool. When Ken was a junior in High School, his family moved to Provo, Utah where he attended, and graduated from, Provo High School with the class of 1982. As a teenager, Ken enjoyed playing the saxophone and loved sports. He especially loved football. His entire life, Ken was a very hard worker— He and his sister started their own "business" mowing as many lawns in their neighborhood as they possibly could. Ken married Lanora Powell (later divorced) in the Manti Temple and together they had four children who were the #1 greatest blessings in his life. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in all of his callings. He served a Spanish speaking mission in San Diego, California. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Southern Utah University and furthered his education becoming a respiratory therapist. He was currently working as a respiratory therapist at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Ken had a great love for his work and also for those with whom he worked... . They were some of his best friends. He was loved by all who knew him because he was so full of life and happiness. Above all, Ken was a great and beloved father to his most precious children and his greatest friends... .Teidra, Quinn, Brianna and McKenna. Ken is survived by his four children: Teidra Nielson, Quinn Nielson, Brianna Nielson, McKenna Nielson and their mother, Lanora Nielson. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Carl (Joann) Nielson, Pam (Ladd) Hadlock, Steven (Claudia) Nielson, Paula (Jeff) Williams, Polly (Bruce) Billings, Jim Nielson, and Penny (Mike) Child and also his biological father, Dennis (Chris) Hemme. Ken was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Peggy Nielson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to a viewing prior to the funeral services from 9:30AM to 10:45AM. Both the viewing and the funeral services will be held at the Ivins Stake Center Chapel located at: 240 East 1060 South, Ivins, UT. Interment at the Ivins City Cemetery.
