Kent Taylor

June 18, 1933 — April 21, 2018

Kent Eugene Taylor (Gene), 84, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on April 21, 2018, in St. George, Utah. Kent was born June 18, 1933 in Fairview, Utah to Nile Clement Taylor and Alice Vera Shields. He was married to his “sweetheart” Glenda Lee Shaffer in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1968, for time and all eternity.

Kent was raised in Tooele, Utah with two brothers, Nile Lamon (Cork) and Alan Shields. He graduated from Tooele High School in 1951. After High School, he served an LDS mission to Hawaii. He attended college at both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. He graduated with a B.S. Degree from the University of Utah on June 5, 1961. Kent worked in Education Administration at the University of Utah and Northland Pioneer College, in Northern Arizona. Kent loved to spend time with his family and was an avid BYU sports fan. He was dedicated to the LDS Church and held many leadership callings, including that of Bishop.

Kent is survived by his wife, Glenda Lee Shaffer, and children Kathy Lee VonTrapp, Debra Lynn Mangum (Carl), Becky Ann Hainsworth (Nathan), Mark Eugene Taylor (Suni), and David Kent Taylor (Kim). Kent has 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother and best friend, Alan Shields Taylor.

Funeral Services will be Monday, April 30, 2018, at 11 am at the LDS Church located at 259 N. Mall Drive, St. George, UT with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45 am. Following the funeral, the interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery.
