Lamar Alma Hansen, 88, died at home in Apple Valley, Utah on Feb. 1, 2011. He was born in Independence, Idaho to Rose Marie Metzener and Alma Peter Hansen. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, spending 17 months at sea on the ship USS Bandera. He married Louise Sal Arave on Dec. 10, 1947 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Latter Day Saints temple. They had five children: Kathleen Hansen, Eileen Hansen (Kelley) Smith, David, Paul (Sonja), and Evan (Carol). In 1954 he purchased a farm unit in the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project in Washington state, where he successfully farmed until retirement. He helped organize an LDS church at Basin City, Washington, becoming the Branch President of it. His wife died in 1972. He married Vernae Scott Rosequist Dec. 1, 1973. He gained two step-children, Pride Jane Rosequist (Steven) Mutoli and Craig Rosequist. After retirement, they moved to Apple Valley, Utah. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, a brother Calvin and a sister, Joyce Hansen Heilesen and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, all his children and step-children, 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be February 7, 11a.m. at the 9th Ward Chapel, 274 South 100 West, Hurricane, Utah. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Hurricane City.
