LaRee Terry Gardner was born July 13, 1938 in Cedar City, UT to Ila and Durward Terry of Enterprise. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 4, 2018 at her home in Enterprise. LaRee grew up in Enterprise with 3 siblings: Theron Terry, Larry Terry, and Colleen Terry Randall.
She was a graduate of Enterprise High School and Dixie Junior College where she was crowned D-Day Queen. George Gardner and LaRee began their courtship in Dixie. Before he left on his mission he asked her to marry him. She faithfully and patiently waited for 2 years until he returned. They were married in the St. George Temple on Nov. 7, 1959. They lived in SLC while George graduated from the U of U and then moved back to Enterprise where she dedicated her life to her family, church, and community. She served in various LDS church callings including Stake and Ward Relief Society President and in the Primary and Young Women auxillaries.
Her excellent piano skills were enjoyed by all who knew her. She started piano lessons at age 4 and a few years later, she was playing for the ward choir. She continued playing the piano for many years in recitals, weddings, graduations, church, and community events. She enjoyed playing in the Enterprise String Band and also taught many piano students.
LaRee was a beautiful and talented woman. She used her talents to bless the lives of all those around her. She sewed her daughters’ wedding dresses, prom formals, and on Easter and Christmas she would sew her 7 daughters matching dresses. Her home was filled with love and kindness and she taught her children service through her example.
George and LaRee served a full time mission to The Phoenix Arizona mission at the ASU institute in Flagstaff.
LaRee is survived by her husband George and 9 children: Jill and Glen Simkins: Trudy and Byron Fenn, Kurt and Ramona Gardner, Paula Gardner, Sonya and Eric Brooksby, Shelly and Brian Hansen; Vicky and Trent Wilson, Rachael and Jerry Lee, and Delbert and Heather Gardner. 47 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
