Leona Vandre left this life, December 5, 2017, after improving the quality of life of those who knew her. Her enthusiasm was a joy. She considered other people’s needs and feelings before her own. Leona’s artistic talents included modern dance and creative writing. She loved teaching and cared about her students.
Leona grew up in New Jersey with loving parents, Helen and Michael, and sister Ruth. She graduated from the University of Utah, taught modern dance and choreographed musicals at the University of Arizona (1960s), was a dance adjunct at Reed College (1970s) and Weber State University (1980s) and taught dance and aerobics at Ogden High School (1990s).
Leona enjoyed: being outdoors, traveling, and playing bridge with her husband Bruce – playing games and joking around with her son Craig – moving rhythmically with and singing to her daughter Holly - giving treasured hand-me-downs to her sister Ruth – talking and cooking with her daughter in law Sholly - spending time with her granddaughters Danielle and Megan and admiring their accomplishments - and the friendship of her sister in law Judy. She also is loved and will be missed by other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 2 PM at Tonaquint Cemetery 1777 So. Dixie Drive, St. George followed by a 3 PM memorial service at Good Shepard Presbyterian Church, 611 North 2450 East, St. George, Utah. The Reverend Dr. Ralph Clingan will officiate both services.
