Leroi Merrill

LeRoi Smith Merrill passed away on September 12, 2016. He is the son of Leonard Mouritsen Merrill and Edith Marie Smith. He was born October 26, 1930 in Tooele, Utah. When he was fourteen years old his family moved to Thomas, Idaho. He attended Ricks College, and served a LDS mission in Western Canada. He later met Marie Meldrum, and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they welcomed nine children into their eternal family. They moved to St. George, Utah in 1968. LeRoi was well known as a premiere builder in Idaho and St. George. He served in many church positions, and loved serving in the St. George Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Merrill, and their children: Gary Merrill (Karen) – Louisville, CO, Curtis Merrill (Stephanie) – Boulder City, NV, Lindsey Merrill (Susan) – St. George, UT, Laura Beacham (Stan)- St. George, UT, Alan Merrill (Theresa) – Santa Clara, UT, Bruce Merrill (April) – Cornelius, OR, Martha Graham (Daniel) – Little Rock AFB, AR; 30 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons Randall and Keith, granddaughters Aleena Padilla and Venice Merrill, and sisters Leona Whitworth and Wanda Hatch.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at11:00 AM at the Green Valley Stake Center, located at 511 South Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to the service.

A second funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Thomas Idaho 3rd Ward Chapel, located at 1059 West 100 South, Blackfoot, Idaho, with a viewing from 12:00 to 12:45 prior to the service. Interment will be at the Riverside Idaho Cemetery. Funeral arrangements under the direction of McMillan Mortuary. Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com
