Our precious Linda with the bright spirit passed away at home from cancer on February 17, 2022 at age 72. Andrew Kramer, her beloved partner of 30 years and Matthew Alexander, her dear and only son, comforted her as she moved on.
Linda’s joyful vibrant spirit touched many. People were drawn to her openness, honesty, courage and authenticity. She was both outspoken and an empathetic, compassionate listener. Her presence inspired others to live life more fully with enthusiasm, commitment, beauty and joy. She was grateful to be alive, loved the natural world and expressed her buoyant spirit through her painting and mosaic art. Linda's curiosity led her to explore many diverse areas of interest. She was an advocate for women’s equality, the less fortunate, the environment and justice in the world.
Linda and Andrew moved to Kayenta/Ivins from Colorado in 2003 and soon thereafter opened Purple Sage Fine Art Painting Studios in the Kayenta Art Village which they maintained for several years. Linda’s art graces many homes in Kayenta and beyond.
Linda grew up on a farm near Winterset, IA, one of eleven siblings. In addition to Andrew and Matthew, she is survived by her brother, Louis Lehmer, his wife, Barbara, of Saint James, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is being considered for late spring. For those wishing to contribute in her name, and in lieu of flowers, Linda’s favorite charities are Heifer International, World Wildlife Fund, Earthjustice and Southern Poverty Law Center.
Linda’s light lives on in the hearts of many. Her soul is eternal.
