Linda Erickson

December 24, 1943 — November 11, 2021

St. George, Utah

Linda, beloved Daughter of God and a loving mother and grandmother, age 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in St. George, UT on November 11, 2021. She was born on December 24,1943 in Ogden, Utah to Richard Karl and Lillian Elvira Lund Coburn. Linda met the love of her life, the late Lynn Harry Erickson of Ely, NV, while they were both serving an LDS mission in Denmark. They were married in the Laie, Hawaii Temple on December 27, 1968. Their 45 years of wonderful marriage produced 5 children and 22 grandchildren with one great-grand child.

Linda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She grew up in a very large LDS family. She was the oldest child of sixteen children. Linda spent time growing up in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California but her true love and home was Hawaii. She graduated from Kahuku High School and received a Bachelors degree in math and music from The Church College of Hawaii, now BYU-Hawaii.

Linda was very active in all kinds of things. As a youth in Hawaii she surfed everyday. She was in numerous plays and choirs and bands all throughout her life. She could play the ukulele, guitar, clarinet, harp, and piano. Her love of music permeated everything in her life. She accompanied many Broadway shows at Tuacahn and St. George Theater. She loved the arts and even acted in plays such as Fiddler on the Roof, Nun Sense, and Sound of Music. She taught her children, grandchildren and countless other people how to play the piano. She loved to sing and composed many original songs.

Linda’s continual positive outlook on life influenced thousands of lives. Her ever present optimism made a huge difference in the world. She loved to read, watch movies, taught herself how to cross stitch, learned how to paint, played sports even into her seventies at Huntsman World Senior Games and she especially loved to “talk story” and hear about everything that her children and grandchildren were involved in and doing. There never seemed to be anything that slowed her down.

Linda’s favorite thing of all was to be with her husband Lynn. They went on a date at least once a week for 45 years. They sang together, played the piano together, travelled the world together. As long as she was with Lynn she was happy. Now they are together again for Eternity.

We are extremely grateful and blessed for the example she set, the love she shared and the lessons she taught. We will miss her dearly and we know that she is with her Eternal companion Lynn and with her Heavenly Father.

Linda is survived by her children Lyf (Angie) Erickson, Leilani (Jeff) Houston, Rinar (Kelly) Erickson, Nordel (Brooke) Erickson, Aislinn (Shane) Alexander and by her siblings Richard (Renee) Coburn, Carma (Bruce) Bean, Margaret Coburn-Nozawa, John Coburn, Norma (Kimo) Kimokeo, Mark Coburn, Douglas (Bonnie) Coburn, Stephanie Thornton, Sunjoo (Chad) Allred, Robert (Kehea) Coburn, Kenji (Monica) Coburn, and Peggy Coburn. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn, her parents and three brothers David, Paul and Rudy Coburn.
