Lloyd Earl Knight Sr., a beloved father and military veteran, passed away on July 7, 2024, in St. George, Utah. He was born on May 9, 1945, in Tehachapi, California, to his loving parents Earl and Betty Knight.
Lloyd proudly served his country in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was also awarded 10 air medals for the time he served in the air as a crew chief on a medi-vac helicopter which was known as "Sweet Pea." His dedication to his military service exemplified his selflessness and courage. His sacrifice came from volunteering at the young age of 18 yrs old. When he returned home from Vietnam he became a cadet in the California Highway Patrol, where he served with honor for 14 yrs.
In Lloyd's younger years he loved fishing with his buddies. He also played semi-professional football. He was a huge San Francisco Giants fan and part time Cubs fan. He loved traveling to Kauai and Cabo San Lucas. He found closure with the war after returning home from a trip to Vietnam with his son.
Lloyd was a dedicated father to his daughter Kim Bradshaw (Keith) and his son Lloyd Earl Knight-Berry Jr. (Biki). His love and guidance will forever remain in their hearts as they navigate life's journey without him by their side. Lloyd leaves behind a brother Dale Knight. Furry grand babies Heidi, Dolly, Apollo, Wally and his special companion rabbit Bugs.
In honor of Lloyd's memory, a celebration of life will be held at his daughter Kim's home on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 6:00pm. Interment will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at a later date. May we all find comfort in sharing our memories and stories of a truly extraordinary man.
Lloyd and his family would like to thank Dixie Home Hospice for the dedicated and loving service. A heartfelt thank you to Kennedi, Bri and Pamela. These three ladies made dad's last few months special.
