Lorene “Lori” Renee Englund Vaterlaus returned to heaven on June 6, 2018. She was surrounded by family in her beloved home in Santa Clara, Utah. Her graduation from this life concluded three years as a cancer survivor.
Born April 27, 1963 in Covina, California to Christer Evert Theiler Englund and Shirley Rae Patterson, she spent most of her childhood in southern California before moving to Utah. She married Thomas Michael Vaterlaus on November 14, 1981 in Claremont, California. They were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
Lori chose a career in nursing and loved caring for her patients in the hospital, surgery, home health, and dialysis settings. After retiring from nursing she built a jewelry business that brought her many dear friends.
She served many years in her church, and especially enjoyed her time with the young women.
Some of Lori’s favorite things included the San Clemente beach, restoring antique furniture, gardening succulents, and adventuring to many parts of the world.
Lori shared 36 joyful years of marriage with her best friend Michael. They have two daughters, Nicole Vaterlaus and Lesa Iverson (Radlee) and three “grandgirls” Jaden (14) Shelbee (5) and Alice (2). Lori’s siblings are Shelene Haymond (Creed), Mindy Black (Todd), and Ryan Englund.
