St. George, Utah-Lorna “LaVerne” Johnson, 85, the best wife, mother, auntie, grandma, great-grandma and friend that anyone could ask for went out with a bang on the 4th of July, 2014. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She was born July 19, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Victor and Lorna Johnson. She married Chester Lamar Johnson and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Grandma/Auntie Vernie was a firecracker. She will be remembered fondly for her sense of humor, beautiful voice and her love of life. Words cannot express our depth of gratitude for her influence in our lives. She loved us and we knew it! We find comfort in knowing that she is still close and that we will continue to feel her influence in our lives.
She is survived by her children Randy (Pam) Johnson and Tana (Daryl) Warden, Sister Sharon “Shane” (Bill) Moore, 11 cherished Grandchildren and 28 Great-Grandchildren.
A celebration of her life for immediate family and friends and a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at Valley View Memorial Park, with a viewing at 10:00 at Valley View Funeral Home, located at 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City.
