Louis Overson

Louis Eugene Overson passed away peacefully on September 24, 2017 at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, UT. He was born October 4, 1933 in Leamington, UT to Louis Christian Overson and Dorothy Lucille Overson.  He married Marga Christensen in July of 1954 in the Manti Temple.  She preceded him in death in 1987. He then married Janet Rowley in 1988 in the Jordan Temple.

Eugene was raised in Lynndyl, UT and graduated from Delta High school in 1952.  He got his Associate  in Science Degree at Southern Utah University in 1954 and Bachelor’s Degree at Utah State University in 1959. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956. He taught at Murray High School and then worked at the Salt Lake Community College where he retired after 29 years there.

Eugene is survived by wife Janet; Children Steven Overson (Lorri), Karen Mandeles (Jim), Shelley Jensen (Keith), Chad Overson, Jana Overson; 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; sister Jeanette Schwab, and brother Rodger Overson (Sue). Preceded in death by his father, Christian, mother, Lucille, wife Marga Overson, brothers Ralph and Keith Overson, sister Orlene Christensen, and daughter Melinda King.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Sandy City Cemetery 700 E 9000 S, Sandy, UT 84070.  Arrangements are under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.  Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com
