Lowell Martin

April 17, 1917 — May 3, 2015

Lowell Martin, born Roy Strong Martin, returned peacefully to our Heavenly Father on May 3, 2015, in Hurricane, Utah, at the age of 98.  He was born April 17, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, to Roy Lowell Martin and Blessing Bartholomew Strong Martin.  He spent much of his childhood in Florida and played trombone as a teenager to earn money which eventually led him to became a trombone player and music arranger for several of the Big Bands of the 1940’s and to move to Hollywood, California.  He served in World War II in the Army Air Force, playing trombone in the first radio production unit of the WFTC and making training films.  Later he worked for several companies including Horton and Converse and Safeway stores and retired in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Lowell is survived by his children Christopher Lowell Martin, Michael Scott Martin, Lorraine Ann Martin Blazevic, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  There is nothing he loved more than to see or hear from his family, and he surrounded himself with pictures of them everywhere in his home.  He was very friendly and well liked, with a great sense of humor.  Lowell was always appreciative of any act of kindness or help and made sure he expressed it.  He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Rose Anna Krisak Martin and will join her in the Garden of Honor at Eden Vale Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
