ST. GEORGEa�"Marcus Elroy White, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family October 27,2012. He was born October 15, 1923, in Chowchilla, CA to George and Edith White. After he lost his father at age 10, his mother raised Marcus and his seven older siblings as a single mother through the Great Depression. He went to Jr. College in Modesto California where he competed as a boxer. He left College to join the Marine Corps. Marcus served his country during the Second World War as a Combat Veteran in the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre where he made 11 beach landings. After the war he continued to honor his country through service in the VFW as Post Commander for many years.

He worked all over the Western United States with Shell Oil on a seismic crew, which led him to Utah where he met his wife. Marcus married Tula Pappas December 21, 1957, in Price, UT. They settle in Ogden UT where he was general contractor, he then went to work for the Nevada test site. She passed away after only 15 years of marriage, with help of family he raised their only son Mark White and never remarried. Marcus traveled the world working as a civil engineer for Bechtal World. He climbed the pyramids in Egypt, walked the Great Wall in China and saw the African plains. A people person to say the least he could make a friend of anyone. A man of many stories, he was always eager to hear yours. He is survived by is son Mark White and four granddaughters Lydia Nelson (Ronnie Nelson), Candace White, Jennifer Young (John Young) Marycatherine White, Great Grand Children Alexis, Sadie Lee, Daniel, Sophia Lachelle and Judah. Many cousins and friends, who all promise to have fun, learn a lot and stay out of trouble. To Marcus, Here is to a life well lived with honor, love and respect. The family would like to thank the staff of Red Cliffs Health and Rehab and Rocky Mountain Hospice for honoring our Grandfather as your own.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 2, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church 690 South Cove Drive Cedar City UT 84720, Graveside services to follow at the Enoch City Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain SD in his honor.
