Margaret Ann Blatter, 88, passed away on September 28, 2019 at her home in Saint George, Utah.
She was born in Preston, Idaho on February 3, 1931, daughter of the late Alfred and Ethyl Sant.
During her childhood, Margaret Ann lived in Grace, Idaho with her brothers and sisters Adrian Sant, Maxine Dunn, Nona Wood, Leo Sant, Morris Sant and Shirley Wright, all of which, with the exception of Leo, have passed before her.
Margaret Ann attended Idaho State University where she met her husband, Ray Blatter. She and Ray were married in 1951 and began two years of travel. They lived in Paso Robles, California while Ray received Army Basic Training and attended Leadership School and then in Fort Benning Georgia where Ray was stationed until his military discharge.
Following Ray’s discharge, Margaret Ann and he moved to Burley, Idaho until 1962 when they moved their family to San Mateo, California. She was a loving and devoted mother with children who loved her and cared for her in return. She was also generous in her care and concern for others. She opened her heart to many. Her home was always open, and her table was often set, for those in need of friendship and company.
She and Ray remained in California until 1993 when they moved to Saint George, Utah. When asked, she would say that she “loved it” there. Margaret Ann treasured her many friends and the years during which she sang in the Southern Utah Heritage Choir. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission, with her husband, in Singapore and India where they had many wonderful experiences.
Margaret Ann is survived by her husband and her five children, Ray Blatter, Jr., Bashawn Adams, Rochelle Elliott, Brian Blatter and Glenn Blatter. She was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
