Marian Schilstra

Marian P. Schilstra, 93, died on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 2:06pm in her home at Leeds, Utah. She was born June 30, 1920 in Perry, New York to Howard S. Peterson and Florence Lindsay Peterson.
She was raised in Perry, New York, married Edgar Gilbert and they later moved to Rochester, New York where she was employed by Neisner's (1948-1951), McCurdy's (10/51-6/52) & (7/54-3/56), and Xerox Corporation (3/56-1976). She held various positions and retired from Xerox in 1976 after twenty years. She joined the LDS Church in 1951. In 1979 she moved to Pharr, Texas where she lived until 1999 at which time she moved to Leeds, Utah.
She enjoyed reading, working jigsaw puzzles, attending plays and doing genealogy. She has traveled extensively by automobile in the United States and by airplane and cruise ships in Europe.
She was preceded by her first husband, Edgar DeWitt Gilbert, Her second husband, Marvin Schilstra and her brother Howard Peterson. She is survived by her brother William Peterson of Louden, Tennessee and her five children; Nancy Junot of Rochester N.Y.; Sally Stice of Louisville, KY; Larry Gilbert of Phoenix, AZ; Sue Sherman of Leeds, UT; and Glen Gilbert of Rhinelander, WI. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be November 25, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Leeds, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Grove Place Cemetery in Chili, N.Y.
