Lieutenant Colonel (RET) Marjorie R. Jensen-Atkinson (Mrs. A.) was born October 12, 1946 in Payson, Utah. Marjorie was the youngest in the Jensen family who lived in Nephi Utah. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Charles (Chuck) Atkinson, two older brothers; Richard G. Jensen (Sherrie) and James U. Jensen (Kathy); and two older sisters; Kathleen Damron (Paul) and Elizabeth Ann Kearns. Marjorie’s LDS Temple wedding was in St. George, Utah. Marjorie and her husband came all the way from Germany where they were stationed in the Air Force and Army to be sealed.
Marjorie didn’t care much for school, but when she injured her knee and while watching the doctor stitch the cut on her knee, she decided she wanted to be a nurse. That decision made a big difference in her effort to graduate from BYU Nursing School. She then went on to get an MSN and MSHR degree and taught Nursing at New Mexico State University Alamogordo, NM and Mohave Community College in Colorado City, AZ.
Marjorie loved all animals and early in her career as an Air Force Nurse she acquired a Schnauzer (Charlie). For the last 34 years one Schnauzer proved not enough, and she bred and loved Schnauzer puppies. She leaves behind Alles and Shadow.
One of Marjorie’s assignments was in North Carolina. Here she answered an ad for companionship. Not wanting to get stuck on a blind date, she suggested meeting at Sears. There she met Chuck who has been a kind and loving husband for over thirty-seven years.
