On August 14, 2018, Mary Lillian Warth passed from this life and returned to her Heavenly Father. Mary was born in River Rouge, Michigan on June 8, 1941. The sixth of fourteen children born to parents Floyd Warth and Edith Brindley Warth, Mary was fondly and lovingly known as Chickie to her close friends and family. Mary is survived by 7 siblings: Floyd (of Texas), Sam (of North Carolina), James (of Missouri), Cathy (of California), Ronald (of Nevada), Robert (of Missouri), and Teresa (of Texas), as well as dozens of loving nieces and nephews.
Mary’s adventurous spirit led her to New Jersey in 1962, where she met and married James Gillich. Together they had three children: Terry (of California), Michael (of Utah), and Tina (of Colorado). Mary was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren Billy, Lucian, Jessica, Rachel, Jordan, and Ariana; and two great grandchildren, Jayden and Claire.
Mary explored many creative passions, from decorating, crafting, and cooking, to writing short stories and poetry. Mary’s natural curiosity inspired a strong love for family history and genealogy work. Mary’s love of family also led her to plan and host large family gatherings which frequently included games, skits, and sometimes pranks. The fond memories of those gatherings remain a source of happy reminiscences for her loved ones.
Mary was known to happily wander down a road she hadn’t traveled before in search of new experiences. She loved the ocean and mountains, and Mary’s venturous spirit led her to reside in many places, including: Michigan, New Jersey, California, Arizona, Missouri, and most recently, Utah.
Mary will be deeply missed, but her love of family and spirit for adventure will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
