MaryLou Swain, 78, returned to her heavenly home on November 27, 2024 in St. George, Utah after a long battle with stomach cancer. MaryLou was born in Ontario, Canada on July 2, 1946. She was the youngest child of Mariah Jane & Lewis John South. She was sealed to Johnnie Lee Shutt in the Salt Lake temple on August 26, 1966. After his passing she was fortunate to find and marry Walter Ellery Swain. They were only married for 6 years. Walt so lovingly cared for mom while she battled cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Our mother moved many times during her married life. Always creating a beautiful, warm and inviting place for all her children and grandchildren to come visit. She spent her golden years in St. George, Utah and loved it so much!
Being a mother and a grandmother was the greatest joy of her life. She was the perfect example of how to pattern your life after Jesus Christ. Mom had a very strong testimony of the gospel. She served in various church callings and always ministered to others. She was a great example to all that were fortunate enough to know her. She truly loved the Savior.
She is survived by her husband Walter, her 4 children: Angie (Brett) Barker, Port Orchard, WA; Brent (Julie) Shutt, Payson, UT; Amber (Roger) Harston, Snowflake, AZ and Cindi (Ron) Sutherland, Provo, UT. She has 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her previous spouse and her daughter Tracy (Bill) Langley, Graham, WA.
