Maureen June Krei

February 6, 1942 — January 8, 2025

Ivins, Utah

Maureen June Krei, age 82, was called home to her loving Heavenly Father on January 8, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home in Ivins, Utah after suffering from dementia for years. Maureen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Born on February 6, 1942, to Franklin Myles and June Eileen Peterson. Maureen grew up on a Mountain Home farm with a love for life and a caring heart in the Uinta Basin. On September 28, 1957, she married, Daniel LaMar Stevenson in Mountain Home, Duchesne, Utah. Together they shared 29 years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, which they shared with their 6 children: Wayne (Brenda), VaLoy, Frank (Tiffany), Russel, Marcy (Chad), and CJ (Staci). After LaMar passed away in a tragic accident, Maureen later rekindled an eternal friendship and married Gary Edward Krei on October 8, 1994 in Salt Lake, Utah. They shared 30 wonderful years together filled with happiness, and joy. Gary brought two additional children, Dean and Don, to our family.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maureen served in various callings throughout her life, including serving as the Relief Society President four times. She and Gary served a mission at the Family Search Library in Saint George, Utah. She was always dedicated to helping and uplifting others. She often expressed that she felt guided by Heavenly Father in every step of her journey, and her faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Maureen was a proud devoted mother to eight children, grandmother to twenty-three, a great-grandmother to twenty-six, and even a great-great grandmother of two. Her family was the center of her universe and she dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being. She took great pride in guiding them with patience, love, and a sense of humor. Despite the chaos that sometimes came with a busy household, she cherished every moment spent nurturing, guiding, and supporting her family. Her love and dedication as a mother were reflected in the lives of her children, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and devotion.

Maureen found great pleasure in surprises. Including practical jokes on Gary when she could get them in. She loved shopping trips, gifts, and taking time to dash off on an impromptu road trip. The two of them loved camping and exploring along the way. She was never scared to rough it, or even sleep in the back of her and Gary’s Ford Ranger pickup. Her legacy of kindness will live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
