The earthly journey of Mildred Dorthy Riis began December 15, 1919. She was born to Emelia Euphrosyne Zetterquist and John William Riis.
Mildred lived a frugal life, giving more than she took, practicing equality, respecting nature and embracing children. She was a self taught master needle worker, gardener extraordinaire, avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, thus losing her eyesight made for a challenging transition. Throughout her life she gracefully accepted what was dealt her, making the best of everything without complaint.
Mildred leaves behind her children: Gregory J Newman, Katherine Z Kent (Art), Janice J Redding (Frank), Richard J Jensen, Douglas D Jensen and their progeny, as well as her older sister, Mae Nelson and younger brother, George Holgerson on this day, May 15, 2011. We give thanks to Utah Hospice for their superior care and support throughout her final months. "Till vi moter igen" ~ (until we meet again)
Mildred requested her body to be donated to U of U Medical Center. There will be no services held.
