Mildred Young

April 26, 1922 — March 30, 2017

Mildred L Young passed away at age 94 peacefully March 30, 2017 with loving family by her side.

She was born Mildred La Rue Hart April 26, 1922 in Falls City, Nebraska, the second child to Perry T Hart and Bessie June Stumbo- Hart.

She was raised on the family farm until she moved into town to attend high school.  She graduated from Gordon High School.  After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Virgil R Young on November 1, 1942 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon, Nebraska.

Before too long her husband was sent off to the war.  After he returned they moved to the Young family farm where they  had  4  children and worked the farm with his parents for several years.

In 1953 looking for a better opportunity and a warmer climate they moved to Santa Rosa, Calif.  Her husband worked at a wood products factory and she was a homemaker devoted to raising her family.

They were active in their church and served as youth advisors for several years.  As her husband’s career took him into the financial investment business they were able to do lots of traveling to several conventions around the country.  She also went back to work as her children grew older and exercised her creative side through teaching sewing classes and going to sewing seminars.  Something she loved and did for many years.

After her husband passed in 1987 she continued her passion for sewing and traveled with her sister.  This included several cruises to places like the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and Russia.

In 2001 she moved to Las Vegas where her youngest son lived. She was there for 8 years before moving to the Meadows Assisted Living in St George, Utah.  During her 7 years there she made many friends and took several Rv trips with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses.  Alice  McMannis (Mike),   Stan Young (Diana), Carolyn Ainsworth (Rusty) and Ben Young (Rendy).  She is also survived by 3 grandchildren.  Chemene Phillips (Rick), John Humes and David Humes.; two  great grandchildren, one step granddaughter , 4 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews,  and a sister-in-law.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at The Meadows Assisted Living 950 S 400E St George, Utah.
