Nancy Huff Byington, passed away on November 21, 2021, at the age of 80 in St. George, Utah. She was born February 10, 1941, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Grant and Ruth Johnson Huff. She was the second of four children.
She grew up in Lake Shore, Utah, and attended school in Lake Shore and Spanish Fork. She attended business school and worked at Bryce Canyon in the summer to fund her schooling. She went to work as an administrative assistant at Sugarhouse Finance and met Alvin (Al) Byington on a blind date. Five months later, on October 9, 1964, Nancy married her eternal sweetheart, Alvin G. Byington, in the Salt Lake Temple and they made their home in Salt Lake.
In 1968 and 1969, Nancy and Al became the proud adoptive parents of Cindy and Todd Byington, who were the joy of their lives. They lived in Utah until 1987, when they moved to Massachusetts for two years and then to O’Fallon, Illinois, where they worked for the government until their retirements. They retired to St. George, Utah.
She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including, twice as Relief Society president, and she and Al served three full-time missions together in Hawaii, Ohio and St. George. She also loved working as a temple ordinance worker in the St. Louis Temple and the St. George Temple.
Nancy passed away just two weeks after Al’s passing because she wanted to be with her sweetheart in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband Al, her parents, her sister, Myrna, and her brother, Sam (Gwen). She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Mike) Byington Sibert, Todd Byington and her grandchildren Shayna, Tucker, TJ, Trista, Christie, Jason, Taylor and Tevin and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 11am at Tonaquint Cemetery (1777 S. Dixie Dr.) in St. George.
