Patricia Samson

Patricia Ann Samson passed away peacefully on March 28, 2022 in Hurricane, Utah.  Born February 3, 1933 in Bell, California, she was a much-loved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.   She was preceded in death by her parents John Smith and Mabel Hubbard of California, husband of 65 years Charles W. “Bill” Samson, and brother, James Smith.  She is survived by brother Michael Hubbard (Becky) of Lebanon, OR, son Neal Samson (Jane) of Riverside, CA, daughters Pamela Leach (Ron) of Rockville, UT and Debra Ellis (Jess) of Aberdeen, ID, nine grand children, nineteen great-grand children and 8 great-great-grand children.  She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness and sweet smiles.

In addition to loving and supporting her family in so many ways, Pat enjoyed being and working outdoors – landscaping and tending to her yard, taking care of their horses, dogs and cats.  In high school, she was a drum majorette and loved leading the band in parades.  She liked to water and snow ski, roller skate and take vacations with the family.  In 1975, she and her husband Bill moved to Montrose, CO, where they purchased a 19.5-acre barebones ranch outside of town.  Over the years, they worked hard turning it into a beautiful home surrounded by lawn, trees, flowers, alfalfa fields and animals.  In 1976, Pat took her first full-time job, going to work for Colorado-UTE Electric Assoc. as a typist clerk in personnel, processing job applications and handling the initial interviewing and testing.  During the peak hiring years in the late 70’s, she received close to 500 resumes a week.  She became an employee benefits clerk in 1982, and retired as a human resource specialist in 1995 – for all those19 years she worked closely with employees.  Upon retiring, she said she would miss the people the most.

Wishing to be closer to family, in 2006 she and husband Bill moved to Apple Valley, UT, working together around their home until Bill’s passing in 2017.  In 2019, she moved to The Haven at Sky Mountain Ranch in Hurricane, UT, easily making friends with her smile and cheery disposition.  Her family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care and love she received from everyone at The Haven and Summit Hospice.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org/donate.
