Peggy Cornell

October 22, 1951 — August 16, 2016

Peggy Lou Butkovich Cornell, 64, passed away on August 16, 2016 in Washington, Utah.  She was born October 22, 1951, in Burbank, California, to Beverely Lott and Thomas Edward Butkovich. She was married to Dennis Keith Cornell on October 3, 1981 in La Habra, California. Peggy was raised in Pico Rivera California and graduated from El Rancho High school in Pico Rivera. After graduation she spent a month in Europe and then began working. She loved being a secretary and worked for the county of Los Angeles for 14 years. For her last 6 years of employment she worked for her father at Auto Guard.

Peggy met her husband Dennis while working for the Heath Department in Los Angeles. They were sealed in the St George temple June 9, 1987. Peggy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings including relief society president. Her most recent calling was serving in the primary where she taught songs to the children. She loved the children and they loved her. As she would leave the room after teaching them, the children would blow kisses to say goodbye. She would pretend that she was grabbing the kisses out of the air and putting them in her purse.

She is survived by her brother Bob, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by the second love of her life and faithful companion, Riley the dog.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Coral Canyon 4th Ward Chapel at 1500 E. Ridgeview Dr. Washington, Utah, with a viewing prior, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery.
