René Vergught passed away suddenly at the age of 83 on December 31, 2015 from heart failure. He was born on June 19, 1932 in Brussels, Belgium to Yvonne and Louis Vergught.
In 1960 René went to live in Cape Town, South Africa where he met and married his second wife Celia, the love of his life. They were married for 53 years. Shortly after their marriage René had this yen to live in the United States. They started their married life in Orlando, Florida. René was a ladies hairstylist. After 4 years in Florida, he had a desire to return to Cape Town, South Africa with its beautiful mountains and beaches. However, after 7 months he told his wife America was still the place. This time René and Celia returned to Houston, Texas where they spent the next 24 years. Deep down René still missed the mountains and told Celia he wanted to live in Southern Utah to be near their beautiful mountains. René spent the last 24 years of his life in Santa Clara, Utah.
Over the years he and his wife traveled extensively to many countries of the world. To René, all he wanted in his last years was to be in his arm chair at home with his reading matter and puzzles. He also loved to write, sing, and especially whistle.
He is survived by his beloved wife Celia, only son Philippe and Viviane Charlot and two granddaughters Virginie and Natalie who all reside in Belgium.
René will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A quiet ceremony will be performed at a later date.
