1924 – 2014 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away November 14, 2014 from complications of old age. Richard was born on January 19, 1924, son of William Richard Barker and Dora Martina Jeppson Barker. Richard enjoyed growing up in the small town of Escalante, Utah. He served in the Army Air Force and was a World War II veteran. Richard married Beth Young in 1942 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Richard and Beth resided in Magna, Utah for 21 years where they raised three children, Beth Ann, Richard Jr. and Larry. Richard attended school at Texas A & M, Utah State University, University of Utah and Westminster College. Richard retired from the UDOT after 28 years as chief accountant in the controller's office. He also owned Barker Accounting and Tax Service that he and his children ran for 30 years. Later in life Richard and Beth moved to Santa Clara, Utah where he was a board member of the Washington County ARC. Richard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many church callings including a two year mission in Santa Clara, Utah. Richard and Beth also welcomed two of Beth's brothers, Bob and Murray, into their home where they cared for them for many years. Richard is survived by his wife Beth Barker; his children Beth Ann Catlin, Richard Barker (Lynn) and Larry Barker (Christa). He had eight grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. The family would like thank the Applegate Hospice Team and the Seasons Care Center for their loving care. Funeral services will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00am at the Santa Clara 16th Ward LDS Chapel located at 3815 W. Rachel Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. A viewing will be from 9:30-10:30am prior to services. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
