Robert (Bob) Anderson, former Director of Akron Ohio Parks and Recreation, passed away on April 14, 2021 at his home in St. George UT.
He was born May 12, 1932, in Minneapolis MN, son of Carl and Vivian Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna Anderson, four children, Julie Horn (Danny), Jeff Anderson, Joe Anderson (Maureen), and Jennifer Anderson.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney, Cassady, Kyle, Makayla, Connor and four great grands, his brother James C. Anderson (Zetta), nephew, James M. Anderson (Barbara).
He graduated from University of Minnesota with BS degree, Masters Degree in Public Administration from University of Dayton Ohio. He worked in public administration in Dayton and Akron Ohio for 30 years.
After retirement, he and Donna opened Andy's Trophy's in Akron Ohio and retired 18 years later and moved to St. George Utah.
Bob was a Korean War veteran, life member of Optimist International and former President Fairlawn Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
For the past 15 years, Bob volunteered for the Huntsman Senior World Games, and also participated and won 3 medals in medal golf. He got is only Hole In One at St. George SunRiver golf course.
Bob had many interests in life, but his most challenging was making WWII airplanes. These were constructed from balsa wood, and reproduced by design, brought down to scale. His most challenging was his last, the Wright Brothers Kitty Hawk, with moving parts. He was unable to finish it.
He and Donna were soul mates, he loved his family and many friends, from across the Country. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held at Ohio Western National Cemetery in Ohio at a later date.
His charity of choice is St. Jude Hospital for Children.
