Robert Dean Corsi, 71, died on October 7, 2015 of congestive heart failure in his home in St. George, Utah.
Robert was born in Richmond, California on September 20, 1944 to William and Helen Corse. He grew up in Paradise, California where his father owned the local grocery store. He had grand adventures getting into trouble and yearning after home cooked meals. He loved to play on the school ball teams where he played every sport because the town was so small. His favorite sport to play was basketball. He graduated from Paradise High School in 1962 and went onto play ball at Yuba College.
He mostly went to college as an excuse to continue playing ball. He played football a lot at Yuba College and even won an award for best all-around athlete. However, he managed to get an education, by the skin of his teeth and the grace of a few professors who managed to earn his respect. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Sacramento State College. He always said the only class he really used in his life after college was a class he took on letter writing. It was a skill he used over and over again in his career.
As far as essay writing though, his essays were mostly written by his wife Carol whom he married on July 31, 1964. Rob and Carol had two children together, Erica and Kirk. Rob and Carol joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1967. Rob said the moment he attended his first meeting he just felt good and that was it for him. Carol and Rob eventually divorced and went their separate ways after college.
Rob moved to Carson City, Nevada in the spring of 1970 where he was a loan officer at a local bank. Rob still found ways to indulge his love of sports by playing catcher for local teams in Carson City. Rob and his son Kirk played baseball together all the time. He also loved to go skiing at resorts near Lake Tahoe. Rob loved to tell a good story or hear one told and loved to meet all kinds of people.
Eventually, Rob started working for Thor, a personnel placement agency, and moved to San Pedro, California. There he met the love of his life, Kristine Marie Kerr in 1987. Robert and Kristine married on August 28, 1988 in Carmel, California at the La Playa Hotel. Rob said it was the most beautiful wedding he’d ever been to and the most beautiful bride. Rob adopted Kristine’s son Aaron in 1998.
Rob started his own business, Auto Careers.com shortly after he and Kristine were married at the urging of his mother-in law, Marie. There was no looking back for him. He loved matching employers in the auto industry with good employees. As Rob always said, “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” He was the first one to bring personnel placement to the auto industry as it is known today.
He also worked at the Ocean Trails Golf Course near his home in San Pedro, collecting balls just because he loved it so much. He loved to golf and would organize an annual trip out to Warner Springs with his friends and family. It was a much loved tradition.
In 2003, Rob moved his family to St. George, Utah, which he found out about through his love of golf. Robert loved living in St. George and loved his friends and neighbors. He served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in many different positions including high councilman, high priests quorum leader, youth Sunday school teacher and ward building coordinator. He loved to serve in the church and he loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. His dearest wish was for his family to be together and have the joy of the gospel in their lives.
Robert Corsi is survived by his wife, Kristine Corsi. His children, Gary and Erica Johnson in St. George, Utah; Kirk and Mandy Corse in Beaver, Utah; and Aaron and Laura Corsi in St. George, Utah. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Nicholas, Kristin, William, and Samuel, as well as his brother Wally Corse and his cousin Sally Barker.
