Robert Hixsom

June 25, 1917 — October 14, 2015

Robert Wayne Hixson (98) said goodbye to his earthly friends and said hello to Jesus on October 14, 2015.

Born in Wanship, Utah, on June 25, 1917, to Karl Burdette and Elizabeth Jane Blondin Hixson. Robert "Bob" Hixson married Lucille J. Niles on June 25, 1948, and they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, most of their lives until 2001 when they moved to St. George, Utah. He worked for Fairbanks Scales until he was 70. He had a great work ethic; job well done was the only way to do it! Much to everyone's surprise, Bob built a home from ground up in 1963. He was always ready to help anyone with a building project. He loved to build things from wood. At 97 he carved a chain from wood found at Cedar Mountain Retreat (camp). Two months ago he built bird feeders and recipe holders for home cooks. Camp was another beloved place where he ran a skip loader, enjoying being a part of the "team." He loved his family, camping, fishing, equipment, and most of all telling jokes!

He was a member of Southland Bible Church, Washington, Utah, where he had many beloved friends.

Survived by wife Lucille J. Hixson, St. George, UT; brother Ray E. Hixson, Salt Lake City, UT; children: Robert B. (Brandy) Hixson and Leesa (Clark) Kramer all of Salt Lake City; grandchildren: Natalie (Brandon) McKee, Salt Lake City; Jessica Hixson, Canton, GA; Rachel Hixson, Athens, GA; Taylor Samoles and Adam Hubert both of Salt Lake City; and three great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by many, including parents, four of five siblings and spouses, sister-in-law Carol Hixson and grandson Chad Ward.

Memorial service will be Friday, October 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Southland Bible Church, 195 E Arrowweed Way, Washington, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to scholarship fund for Cedar Mountain Retreat. Checks should be made to Southland Bible Church, PO Box 826, Washington, UT 84780 with a memo note of "CMR."
