Washington, UT- Robert Ryder Miller Sr., 85 died on April 17, 2011 in St. George, UT. He was born November 11, 1925 in Chambersburg, PA. to John and Ruth Miller. He married his college sweetheart Sarah (Sally) Seitz of Shippensburg, PA. He served in the Glider Infantry Division of the army during World War II. After the war, Bob completed his bachelor's degree at Shippensburg Teachers College and went on to complete his master's degree at the University of Virginia and Doctorate of Science at Penn State University. Bob impacted many lives at SUNY Plattsburgh, teaching young people to become science teachers. Most of his life, Bob lived in Plattsburgh, NY and moved to St. George UT to be closer to his grandchildren in Utah. Bob and Sally traveled back and forth between Plattsburgh and St. George for many years.

One of his greatest loves was traveling and seeing the many historical sights in Europe, Asia and South America. Singing was a great passion of Bobs. He enjoyed singing with the Barbershoppers in St. George and Plattsburgh, NY. He, also, sang in the choir at Grace Episcopal Church. Bob loved interacting with people. He was at his best when cracking jokes with friends, playing penny poker, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and just being with people.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert Jr. (Sherry) Butte, Mont., their children Kris (Mark) Jacobs of Woodenville, Wash., Brian (Diana) of Seattle, Wash,., and Jason of Seattle, Wash; his Kimberly (Denis) of North Ogden, Utah, their children, Danielle (Jordon) of Gilbert, Ariz., Caitlin and Aaron; his son David (Melanie) of Ellsworth, Maine, and their children Tessa and Emily. He is also survived by his three great-grandsons, Sam, Ryan, Ryder Jay. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Elizabeth Seitz Miller; his parents John Wesley Miller and Ruth Whistler Miller; his brother John W. and his son James Edwin.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 1072 E. 900 S., St. George, UT A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Interment is at Springhill Cemetery in Shippensburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent ton the American Lung Association or the Soup Kitchen at Grace Episcopal Church in St. George.
