Robert “Bob” Morganti
St George
On December 5, 2012 Robert Lee Morganti passed from this world into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family who loved him with all of their hearts.
Bob was born to William and Ruby Morganti on August 3, 1930 in Salinas, CA. and raised in Oregon. He served with distinction in the Korean War as a member of the US Army. He survived being severely wounded by a land mine and still went on to complete his tour of duty.
In 1953 while living in Sweet Home OR Bob met the love of his life Shirley McCullough. The two were married November 14, 1953. The couple began to raise a family and soon after moved to the Santa Maria Valley in CA where Bob began his life long career in the automotive repair industry. He developed a special attraction for Volkswagens, and soon rose in the ranks to service manager where he was selected twice as Service Manager of the Year by Volkswagen of America. Bob was an amazingly excellent worker and always received the greatest amount of respect from those he worked for, and from those who worked for him. You could literally count on one hand the number of days he missed work after 50 years in the business.
Outside of work his passion was his wife and four boys. Many days were spent on outings or camping. He loved to spend time teaching his sons how to play pool, ride motorcycles, and handle horses. He and his wife spent many years as active members of the local area Jaycees, and they also shared a love for amateur stock car racing.
Years later he would discover a new love in that of his grandchildren whom he adored. He attached himself to this whole new generation that absolutely loved their Grandpa and spent their time experiencing the same adventures of life that their dads were blessed with.
To know him was to love, honor and respect him, because he gave reason to admire him.
To those who called him father and grandfather, all we have to say is,
“We’re just a living legacy to the leader of the band.”
Bob is survived by his wife Shirley, his sons, Kevin Morganti of St George, Greg Morganti of Deer Park WA, Bill Morganti (Cathy) of St George, and Bruce Morganti (Mary Jo) of Tucson AZ, also a brother Dale Cross of Canada, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 8 4:30PM at: St George Community Church, 95 S. 800 E. (corner of 100 S. and 800 E.), St George, UT 84770 Questions: 435-251-7088
