ROBERT WALLACE PRATT

1939-2017

Robert Wallace Pratt peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ, March 15, 2017 at St. George, Utah.  A beloved and remarkable husband and father, his family will miss him greatly.

He was born March 1, 1939, Los Angeles, California, to Irving Llewellyn and Norma Storrs Pratt.  The youngest of three children, he was especially welcome after eleven years had elapsed from the birth of his older brother Keith.  Greatly loved by his parents, older brother Keith and sister Dawn, and affectionately known as Robin, and later Bob, his childhood was a wonderful memory for him throughout his life, growing up on streets such as Cloverdale and Third Avenue.

After graduation from Los Angeles High School, Bob joined the United States Coast Guard Reserve.  Following his initial training with the Coast Guard, Bob served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission, mostly in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida.

Shortly after returning from his mission Bob met Margaret Elaine Spendlove, and they were married a little over a year later on June 8, 1962, in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Santa Monica, California.  He and Margaret lived together in love and harmony for just short of 55 years.

Bob and Margaret first lived in Los Angeles on Crenshaw Boulevard and then Leeward Avenue where their oldest child Jennifer was born.  When Jennifer was just 18 months old they moved to Provo, Utah, where both Bob and Margaret attended and graduated from Brigham Young University.

His first employment after graduation was with Los Angeles County.  While working for Los Angeles County he became Deputy Chief of Staff to Baxter Ward, one of the five Los Angeles County supervisors (elected officials). After leaving Los Angeles County he then had his own successful videographer business until his retirement.  After retirement he and Margaret moved to Washington, Utah, where they lived until his passing.

While living in Glendale and then Montrose (Los Angeles County) Bob and Margaret welcomed five more children into their lives for a total of six.  Their children are Jennifer (John Devitry), Robert, Brian, Allen (Stacey), David (Elizabeth), and Richard.   One of the great sorrows of their lives was losing Brian when he was just 14 months old.  A great solace to them was the birth of twin boys (David and Allen), just ten months after Brian’s passing, and Richard seventeen months later.

Bob treasured his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived a life of faith, hope and charity.  We know that he is in a place of love and peace and find great comfort and solace in this knowledge.  Among his special memories as a member of the Church were those of serving as a counselor in the bishopric of one of the married student wards at Brigham Young University, as a high priests group leader, a ward mission leader, and a ward clerk, among others.

He is survived by his wife Margaret and five of his six children, 17 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00am at the Northbridge Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1080 West Arlington Street, Washington, Utah.  Viewing and visitation with family from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.   Interment at Washington City Cemetery under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.  Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com
