Robert Steenbergen, 75, of Mesquite, Nevada, died Friday, September 14, 2012, after a brief illness.
Bob was born December 29, 1936 in Yuma, Arizona to Josephine & William Steenbergen. He attended the University of Arizona where he received his BS in Engineering. Later, he completed postgraduate work in Engineering at Stanford University, where he received his Masters Degree.
Bob moved to Las Vegas in 1965, where he joined EG & G, where he worked until his retirement in 1996. He was a passionate member of Lions Clubs International, serving as District 4-N/46 Governor in 2000 - 2001, and as an active member of the Mesquite Lions Club.
Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Diane Morse, also of Mesquite; his sister, Ann McCallum of Roanoke, Virginia; nephew Alec McCallum, wife Paula, son Alec, Jr. of Greenville, SC, & son Thomas Deeter of San Diego, CA; nephew Doug McCallum, wife Mary, daughter Jessica of Roanoke, VA, & son Daniel of Vancouver, BC, Canada.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Mesquite on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at 1:30 pm, at the Falcon Ridge Hotel located at 1030 W. Pioneer Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Lions Club District 46 Student Speakers Foundation (4450 Meadowwood RD, Carson City, NV 89703) or to the Mesquite Lions Club Jim Abbott Scholarship Fund (PO Box 1208, Mesquite, NV 89027).
