Robert 'Bob' Carter

November 7, 1950 — November 8, 2019

Hurricane, Utah

Robert Edward Carter, age 69 passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019 surrounded by loved ones after a year long battle with Leukemia. Robert (Bob) was born on Nov. 7, 1950 in Miami, FL to Charles Edward Carter and Opal Reed Carter. He grew up in Miami Springs, FL attended Miami Springs High School and was very active in Drama and Chorus. He went to work for the Railroad (now CSX) and retired after 40 years of service. He also joined the Air Force Reserves in 1970 and served 6 years as a loadmaster stationed out of Charleston AFB in Charleston, SC.

In December of 1983 he married Robin Lynne Pinckard, the love of his life. Bob is survived by his wife Robin, his daughter Cheryl Lynne St.Peter, Middleburg, FL, his son Christopher Michael Carter, Jacksonville, FL, his sister Terry Carter Pawlick, St. Augustine, FL his three adopted children Shawn Carter, Jason Carter and Celine Race, and a whole host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob and Robin were founding members of HighPoint Community Church in Orange Park, FL and were active participants in the Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis weekends for many years. Bob was blessed to serve as the Community Lay Director for Walk to Emmaus for a period of time.

After retiring from CSX, Bob and Robin moved to Hurricane, UT where they spent the last 5 1/2 years golfing, hiking, RV'ing, trail riding and enjoying all that Southern Utah has to offer. Bob went to work at Sand Hollow Golf Course where he enjoyed helping golfers feel at home and promoting the wonderful game of golf. His year long fight with Leukemia took a lot out of him but he never lost hope that he would get healthy and strong again so that he could resume his position as Outside Supervisor and play more golf.

Sadly that was not to be and in late October he found out that the leukemia had returned and there was nothing else that could be done. Bob fought so bravely with the help of the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and support staff at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He would also want to say a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge where Bob and Robin were able to stay for long periods of time while Bob was undergoing treatment and subsequent Bone Marrow Transplant.

Bob was a man full of life who never met a stranger. His quirky outgoing personality made everyone feel immediately comfortable and he had so many stories to tell. He loved people and had a special place in his heart for youth, especially the ones that were challenging. His years spent as a youth counselor in church were some of his fondest memories. I am sure his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Bob loved God, and loved his family, he had a strong faith and wanted us all to know we will all see each other again one day!
