Roger Paul Hamblin, 71, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022 at the home he shared with his wife, travel partner, and loving companion of more than fifty years. Roger married Kristine Petersen on September 15, 1971, and together they created a beautiful and comfortable life.
Roger was born and raised in Salt Lake City, where he eventually followed family tradition by building a successful career with Harman’s KFC spanning 25 years. His second career was with Taco Bell and when he “retired” to Southern Utah, he created an equally successful third career as a Broker for Red Desert Realty and custom home builder. Professionally, he was hard-working, determined and driven; always willing to take on new challenges.
Even once he truly retired, he continued to work tirelessly as he served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Kris loved the Ivins Stake and the England South missions but found a special joy serving at the Palmyra Historical Sites in the Rochester, NY mission.
The greatest work Roger did in his life and the work he was most proud of, was the family he created and reared with his high school sweetheart. He was a generous, loving, always-hilarious father and grandfather who encouraged every hobby and interest his family has ever had.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Paul Hamblin, his siblings Karen, Kim and Sherman Hamblin and a beloved granddaughter ChasLyn. He is survived by his wife Kristine and three children, Paul (Ciana), Chase (Amanda) and Emily (Kindal) Debenham and nine grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12pm in the old Ivins Chapel (15 N Main, Ivins UT). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund.
