Ruperd George “Bud” Cameron, Jr., our amazing husband, father and grandfather, passed away early on Thursday, August 18, 2016.
Bud was born June 2, 1924, in Schenectady, New York, to Ruperd George and Bessie Cameron. He loved learning, and loved people. His curiosity sent him to many places and people, leading him to a rich, full life.
After finishing high school, Bud enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served in the Pacific during WWII.
Bud joined the LDS Church at 17, and pursued his engineering degree at BYU, where he met and married his sweetheart, Rita, who truly became his eternal companion by helping him become his very best self. After their marriage in the Manti temple, Bud completed his degree and took his family to Michigan where he worked for Chrysler Missile.
In 1963 Bud moved his family to Southern California, where he worked for Rocketdyne. Then 5 yrs later moved them to San Jose, California where they raised their children, Cory (Jeanne), Wes (Andrea), Sandra (Curtis) and Lynnell (Frank). In San Jose the family built strong ties and great friendships. He is survived by his wife Rita F. Vance Cameron 4 children 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
As empty nesters Bud and Rita moved to So Utah, and then served a mission to Mexico City, finally building their current home in St. George. He and Rita have friends “in every port.” They were known for rolling up their sleeves and serving wherever needed. Bud will be greatly missed, but is no doubt having great reunions in his new home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sunset 7th Ward building at 415 Westridge Dr. St. George, Utah with a viewing at 9:30 am. Interment will take place at the Tonaquint Cemetery. A special thank you the wonderful Staff at the Southern Utah Veterans Home who so lovingly cared for Bud.
