St. George, Utah - A rare and beautiful bird has flown away from us. Just 3 days before her 90th birthday, Ruth Marie Duffin Richardson passed away peacefully at her home on June 9th, 2022.
Ruth was born to Vendla and Wilford Ray Duffin on June 12, 1932, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She would be pleased to discover a clever and funny older brother (William Ray Duffin) was part of the household, too! A few hilarious photos survive that show how he loved to tease her and she absolutely adored him.
Ruth was delightful to be with and easy to talk to. To “stop by”, was something to look forward to and usually meant a longer visit than originally planned. Many times she would greet you outside along with her little black poodle, named Ebbe. She loved her Salt Lake City LDS ward and had many forever friends there.
Ruth was very proud of her two daughters, Rhonda Reed (Harry Reed) and Karen Zamudio (Andrew Harrison). She also enjoyed a close and loving relationship with her younger sister, Mary Jane Whisenant.
Her happiest times were when her children, 11 grandchildren or 10 great grandchildren would visit or sit outside and cook something tasty on the grill.
Graveside services will be held at Camp Williams Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah, on Thursday, June 16th, at 12:00pm. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edward Albert Richardson. There will be time for attendees to share special memories they had with Ruth.
