Samuel Huntsman Gentry passed on November 14, 2024, at the age of 64. Sam was born in St. George Utah on January 19, 1960 to Austin and Elna Gentry.
Sam was raised in St. George, Utah. He attended Dixie High School. Following high school he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Zealand.
Sam was married from August 8, 1986 to June 2009 to K’lyne Bosh. They brought into the world three boys, Jerry, Jordan, and Jace. With whom he loved to take camping and shooting when ever possible. Later he was blessed with five grandchildren Porter, Walter, Sawyer, Liv and Nash.
Sam was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig disease) at the age of 28. He was the youngest person to be diagnosed in Utah at the time. He was told he would only live for 3 years, he beat that by 33 years. Sam loved the rodeo and spent a short time riding bulls while he was able to. He had a love for his miniature schnauzers Tucker, Peanut, and Jetta.
Sam made a living by driving semi trucks, for several companies including Cox Trucking, whom he drove for several years. He had a love for trucking that he shared with his boys, and did his best to pass down work ethics.
He is survived by his sons Jerry, Jordan, Jace and their families. His Brothers Harry, Doug, Tim, and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents Austin and Elna Gentry, brother Mike and nephew Jon.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the St. George Cemetery. Following the graveside there will be a luncheon at the Ivins LDS Stake Center.
