Mesquite, NV. Sandra Julius Thompson, age 63, passed away on December 5, 2020, in St. George, Utah. Sandra was born on November 5, 1957, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Dale and Iva Julius. She was the wife of Denny Thompson. They were married in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 20, 2000.
Sandra lived most of her childhood in Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from Washington High School in 1976. She obtained a degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University and taught for many years in Colorado and Iowa. She became a State Farm Agent in 1991, working first in Cherokee and then in Urbandale, Iowa, and retiring as an agent in 2010. In 2011, she moved to Mesquite, Nevada, where she worked as a bank teller and loan officer. In 2018, she and her husband, Denny, fulfilled their dream of serving as house mentors at the Amazima Christian School in Jinja, Uganda. She and her husband returned to Mesquite in December 2019.
Sandra loved adventure and was always eager to try something new. She was outgoing, friendly, and knew no strangers. Her hobbies and interests included travel, running, reading and baking.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Iva Julius. She is survived by her husband, Denny; their children David, Lexi, and Neecie; her father, Dale Julius; her brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis and Diane Julius, and Alan and Susan Julius, and her sister and brother-in-law Marsha and Rory Ruble, two uncles, and many nieces and nephews .
Funeral services will be arranged at a future date.
