St. George, UT – Santley Sawyer, 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in St. George, Utah. He was born on January 20, 1926 in Hatch, Utah to Golda and Leon Sawyer.
Santley was a World War II veteran and a survivor of the SS Leopoldville Troopship Disaster. He was a cement finisher by trade and spent much of his working life in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent as much time as he could in the outdoors where he was happiest. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his sisters Leila Callahan and Valda Lawson. Santley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife Suzan and children: Francis “Tom” Sawyer (Debbie), Karen Sawyer (Larry), Kate Moskios (Jerry), Suzie Sawyer, Mark Langston, Tom Sawyer (Robyn), Ray Sawyer (Christina) and Sandra Sawyer. He has 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00pm at the St. George Utah Sunset Stake Chapel, 82 N Dixie Dr., St. George, Utah. The viewing will be held from 12:30-1:45pm at the same location. Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S. Dixie Dr., St. George, Utah 84770.
