Shareen Holt

Shareen Bunker Holt was born on November 7, 1958 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah to Paul Carson Bunker and Lola Marie Hodgkinson Bunker.  She was the third of nine siblings – two sisters and six brothers.  She lived in Vineyard, Utah until the age of 5 when her family moved up the hill to Orem.  She attended Geneva Elementary and Orem Jr. High School.

Shareen had many great childhood friends and was loved by everyone.  She had a ready smile and an infectious laugh and was always very happy.  Shareen was a “daddy’s girl” and loved being outside with him rather that in the house doing chores.  She loved all the animals on our small farmland especially the horses, pigs and rabbits.  Some of her favorite activities were riding bikes, building tree houses or hay huts, and hanging out with the Hadlock twins.  She took baton twirling lessons and marched in the Provo 4th of July Parade.

At age 14, Shareen’s father passed away after which the family moved to Sigurd, Utah.  The best things about this move for Shareen were the open fields, the reservoir, dirt bikes and boys!  She loved fishing, swimming, playing softball, and camping.   Shareen attended Richfield Jr. High and High School.  She graduated in 1977, and then attended SUSC in Cedar City.  She married Matt Valantine and divorced shortly afterwards.  They had one child, Joshua Paul Valantine, a beautiful, blonde, happy little boy born on the 4th of July.

On July 23, 1981, Shareen married the love of her life, Scott Holt.  They lived in Salina for a time while Scott worked for Salina City and Shareen worked for Dr. Hendrickson as a dental assistant.  They had a charming, bubbly, brown-haired little girl, Deserae Holt, who completed their family perfectly.   They moved to St. George where Scott managed a turf farm and Shareen worked for Dixie State Bank which eventually became Wells Fargo.  They enjoyed raising ostriches on the farm as well.  The best thing about working for Wells Fargo, and then South Central Communications, was being able to work with her daughter, Desi.

Shareen suffered throughout her life of several illnesses and diseases, the most serious being Hodgkiins Lymphoma, Castleman’s Disease, and open-heart surgery.  Although she was extremely sick, she continued to work throughout all her treatments and never complained.  She had many very special friends at work who meant a lot to her and her customers would comment how helpful and friendly she was to them.

Later in her life, she lived in Lindon and Panguitch where Scott was working.  She enjoyed her short time living in Lindon because it gave her a few precious years to spend with her mom before she passed away in 2013.  She loved the time living in Panguitch because she was able to spend many hours doing what she loved the most—spending time with Scott and her family in the outdoors.  They loved four-wheeling, camping and geo-caching together.  She also enjoyed quilting with her mom and sisters.  She had a wonderful talent of sewing quilts together, choosing beautiful fabrics, and quilting on her longarm.

Shareen loved her family, her parents, brothers and sisters.  But the loves of her life are Scott and her children, Josh and Desi.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00am at the Bloomington Hills 4th Ward Chapel located at 750 E. Fort Pierce Drive, St. George, Utah.  A viewing will be from 9:30-10:45am prior to services at the same location.  Interment at Tonaquint Cemetery.
