It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn Matthew O'Malley, affectionately known as "Boog," who left this world on December 26, 2024, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 54. Shawn’s life was a testament to dedication, adventure, and love—a legacy that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on September 14, 1970, in San Bernardino, California, Shawn was the beloved son of Michael Frank O'Malley and Paula Luise O'Malley. He shared a special bond with his stepfather, Larry Allen Rose. Shawn spent much of his childhood in Snowflake, Arizona, where he cultivated a love for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit that became defining qualities throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Snowflake High School, Shawn pursued higher education at Ricks College in Idaho. While there, he played football and exemplified teamwork and perseverance. His passion for service led him to attend the Salt Lake Community College Law Enforcement Academy, preparing him for a career dedicated to protecting others and upholding justice.

Shawn served with distinction as a member of the Roy City Police Department in Utah. Over the course of his career, he held critical roles in specialized units such as the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force, Homicide Task Force, and Weber-Morgan Children's Justice Center. As a Detective Sergeant and Property Crimes & Fraud Investigator, Shawn made an indelible impact on countless lives within his community through his professionalism and unwavering commitment to justice.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Shawn found immense joy in his role as a family man. He treasured every moment spent with his wife, Kyri Jo O'Malley, and his children Gannon O’Malley, Caitlyn Fragua, Bradley Boone, and Olivia LaRose. Whether it was boating on tranquil waters or snowboarding down mountain slopes, Shawn’s zest for life created cherished memories for those closest to him.

After retiring from law enforcement duties, Shawn and Kyri settled in Mesquite, Nevada—a place they chose for its warm climate and welcoming community. There he began working as a machinist with Crown Cork & Seal USA Inc., where he continued to demonstrate hard work and camaraderie among colleagues.

Shawn became great friends with Steve Bills Pirate), Ron Williams (Ogre), Anthony Meier Roadkill) and Cameron Fawson (Baba Yega) who created the Knights of Honor MC. They all later patched over and became members of the “Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club”, which is a National club of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, Military and like minded Brothers. Shawn was very instrumental in starting up the Olympus Utah Chapter. Shawn grew quickly in the Punisher ranks and as a dedicated member. Shawn held the office of Sergeant at Arms while a member of the Olympus Utah chapter. The chapter grew and needed to be divided; Shawn assisted with the start up of the Gunsight Utah Chapter, serving in the position of Vice President. He eventually made the Utah- Dixie Chapter in Saint George Utah his home and final Chapter. Shawn was Road Captain for Dixie and as of now holds the position Sergeant at Arms. The Punishers LEMC helped exemplify his unwavering commitment to service and his strong connections with fellow officers who shared core values of brotherhood, camaraderie, respect, integrity, honor, and loyalty.

Shawn is deeply respected and loved by his Punisher Brothers. Locally and nationally. Shawns name is now etched in the halls with all Punisher Brothers who have left this earthly life to pursue what awaits in the next chapter. This is known as the 31st Chapter. All Punishers wear the 31st chapter memorial patch on their Cuts (vests), to remember, honor and pay respect to their Fallen Brothers. This quote from a Punisher Brother says it best: Boog was an amazing man who truly cared for others and was always offering an open hand to help others. Boog, your example will always be our inspiration on how to live life.
