Thomas Alvin Ferree, age 87, passed away at his home in St. George, Utah on January 27, 2019. He was born at home to his parents George and Mary Stolsig Ferree in Anderson, Indiana, one of five children.
In 1951, he married Marilyn Alspaugh in Anderson, Indiana but then moved to Orange Co, California where they reared six children: Kathy Hardin of New Plymouth, Idaho, Christie Waddell of Hurricane, Utah, Penny Clark of Riverside, California, Jessica Ferree (deceased), David Ferree (deceased), and Jeremy Ferree of Aloha, Oregon. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1959 and were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple in 1960.
After Marilyn’s death in 1998, Tom married Iann (Ann) Smith in Riverside, California and was sealed to her in the Los Angeles Temple in 1999. They moved to St. George, Utah in 2002 and had just celebrated 20 years of marriage.
Tom leaves sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild, upon all whom he leaves his love and blessing.
Tom had a passion for new inventions, science and nutrition, and the grand scheme of God’s plan for us; he was an avid reader of these interests. He could repair just about everything, often helping neighbors. But his motto might have been, ‘If it ain’t broke, it can be improved.’
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00am at the Bloomington Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 200 W. Brigham Road, St. George, Ut 84790. A viewing will be from 10:00-10:45am at the same location.
