Thomas (Tommy) Lee Herman was born June 21, 1933 in Hawk Springs, Wyoming to John and Helen (Snyder) Herman. Tom spent most of his early years in Hardin and Billings Montana. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served honorably in the Korean War for 4 years. He met the love of his life, Dorit Charlotte Koerber. They married in December of 1954 and within 4 years had 3 boys… Greg, Dave and Ken.
Tom worked for Garrett Freight Lines for 30 years and upon retiring as Foreman he purchased the Wagon Wheel RV Campground and Cabins in West Yellowstone, Montana in 1983. Then in 1987, Tom and family purchased the Rustic Wagon RV Campground, also located in West Yellowstone from his Uncle Walter Herman. The family owned and operated both businesses for almost 35 years.
Tom loved to fish and hunt with his sons on weekends and on vacations traveling across Montana and even up into Canada. He also enjoyed gambling, mainly playing the poker slot machines. He was known by many as “Lucky Tom”.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother and father, and siblings Ronald, John, Larry, Carol, and Betty. He is survived by his wife Dorit, their 3 sons, Greg (wife Bobette), Dave and Ken, his 4 grandchildren Lindsey, Jason, Jared and Josh, and his 9 great grandchildren Ella, Evey, Thomas, Collin, Lily, Flynn, Jonah, Jane and Lewis. He is also survived by his half-brother Wally and the many nieces and nephews from his siblings families.
Our Tom will be missed more than we can ever say. He will be loved and remembered forever by us all.
