Una Valene Shields Mellenthin passed away December 1, 2022 in St. George, Utah.
Valene was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in the fall of 1951 to then be raised in Sugarhouse Utah. As a devout Mormon she went through the Temple in 1995, serving a Stake Mission. Serving in the primary and nursery were dear to her heart, she loved working with children. Valene attended Highland High School and after gained her certificate from Salt Lake City Technical College. Throughout her life Valene held many professions from printing film at the Western Film Company, typewriter repairs and for many years she worked as an Insurance Agent. She married Michael R. Mellenthin in 1969 together they welcomed two children, Diana and Lara. during their life together they lived in Georgia, Washington, California and Utah. She Enjoyed traveling, beading, crafts, painting, creating jewelry, animals and spending every moment possible with family.
Valene is survived by her children Diana Michelle Mellenthin Flint and spouse Edward Flint, Lara Valene Mellenthin and partner Kurt Evans. As well as her many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Great Grandchildren and Great Nieces and Nephews, and the numerous friends she touched along the way. She will be reunited with her beloved parents Edna and Frederick Shields, her siblings James Beberidge, Richard Dick Shields, Lois Shields, Linda Margene Shields Richmond, Niece Marissa Dawnship and her Granddaughter Samantha Louise Panek.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Harvestland Ward Chapel at 3120 West 4700 South, West Valley City, Utah 84119.
