Veda Ruth Holland Adams was born May 10,1946 in Albany, OR. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Thurman Larimore Holland (born in Arkansas) and Naoma Ruth Griffin Holland (born in Missouri). Her older sibling’s age at her birth were: Lora Mae-15, Rex Dale-10, Don McClellan (Clell)-8 and Alvin Ray (Al)-6.
Veda was raised in OR. Her mother passed away when she was 15 years old. She met her husband of 50 years, Wilfred Louis Adams in high school. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City, UT temple one year after their wedding Dec 21, 1964. They served 6 years in the military. They lived in or visited Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, England and Scandinavia.
Veda worked as a telephone operator, secretary in Albany General hospital and at Quester Gas in St. George, UT.
Their first child, Andrea Michelle Adams Percival was born in Germany. Their second and third children were born in Oregon, Shannon Renee Adams Oakes and Brian Jeremy Adams. Brandon Chamberlain Adams was born in North Dakota while they lived in Montana for a year.
Veda passed away peacefully with loved ones surrounding her on March 12, 2024 at the age of 77 years old of complications with a recent cancer diagnosis. She is enjoying a sweet reunion with her husband, Will, mother, Naoma, father Thurman, sister Lora and brother Rex. She is survived by her four children, their spouses, 18 grandchildren and 11 and one third great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 6pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where Veda was a faithful member since her conversion at 18 years old. The church is located at 450 W 3650 S, Washington, UT 84780 under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ located at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024 on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 9:30am.
