Vernon William Jaques Age 91, Passed away peacefully at his home in La Verkin, Utah surrounded by his wife and family on September 16, 2021. He was born on June 13, 1930, to Elverda Jane Beckstead and Thomas Vernal Jaques in Layton, Utah, where he spent his childhood learning to work hard, hunt, and fish.
Vernon honorably served his country during the Korean War. He always said he joined the Navy to see the world and got stuck in Virginia. Upon returning home, he married his sweetheart Violet Mecham on March 21, 1951, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. The young couple started their family and continued their journey in Wallsburg Utah, Etna California, back to Wallsburg and finally settling in LaVerkin for their “retirement” years.
The family’s quality time was spent hunting,fishing, and camping. The years of fun memories and life lessons have been passed on to the younger generation and will continue to be shared. Vernon will always be remembered for his gardening and cabinet making and as a hard working, loving, kind and generous man, by all who were blessed to know him and have him in their lives.
Vernon was met on the other side by his parents, his stepfather Hugh McQueen, his brother Vernal, sister Ila, Son Ryan Vernon, Daughter Laura Jane, daughter in law Robin Jaques, granddaughter Sarah Jane Kinsey, and many more loved ones.
His Legacy will be carried on by his wife, son Steven William (Debbie) of Wallsburg Utah, daughter Peggy Ellen (Don Williams) of Kanarraville, Utah, son Layne Albert (Alicelyn) of LaVerkin Utah, son Michael Nathan (Cheyenne) of Hurricane, UT and daughter Rebecca ‘Bec’ Jane of LaVerkin, Utah, and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 20, 2021, at 11:00am at the La Verkin West Chapel 70 S 300 W. La Verkin, Utah 84745. The viewing will be from 9:00-10:30am at the same location. Graveside service to follow at La Verkin City Cemetery
There will also be a viewing Sunday evening September 19, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm at the La Verkin Community Center (old white church) 111 S Main, La Verkin UT
